US-Origin Serum - cell proliferation und cell differentiation:

To cultivate cells in vitro means cell proliferation. At the same time, the cultivated cells should reach a high degree in differentiation to be adequate for in vitro differentiation. Therefore, cell proliferation and cell differentiation are often contradictory objectives of cell cultivation. Thus, we recommend testing the serum for the benefit of a specific goal or an optimal compromise. Bio&SELL provides free test samples if you plan to purchase a certain amount of sera. In case of the fetal US-Origin Seum the minimum amount is 10 x 500 ml.

US-Serum and transfection:

Transfection efficiency is heavily dependent on the cell division rate. This factor, however, depends on the growth factors (PDGF, TGF, IGF- 1 as well as betacellulin, an EGF-analogon) which the serum contains. We assume, that this specific batch of Bio&SELL US-Origin Serum "FBS-Superior" contains a high percentage of growth factors (no proof) which leads to a very high transfection efficiency. Achieving a high proliferation rate equals good transfection efficiency. 

Fetal bovine serum and the United States:

The import (or reimport) of fetal bovine serum from South America or South Africa to the United States is prohibited. According to our information, this also applies to derivates (biopharmaceuticals, tissue engineering products, FCS-containg cell cultures and cell lines) which were extracted or made from South American bovine fetal serum. Apart from fetal US-Serum, bovine fetal sera from Australia and New Zealand are permitted.
