Our loading buffer Bromphenol Blue was developed for the optimal detection of DNA fragments (dissolved in water or TE buffer). It is 10x concentrated and contains the dyes bromophenol blue (0.1 %) and xylene cyanol FF (0.1 %). In addition to EDTA and SDS, glycerol has been added to the buffer solution. This gives the loading buffer a higher density and ensures that it sinks perfectly into the wells of your agarose gel. Our loading buffer thus reduces the risk of errors during sample application and increases the quality of your results.
Notes on detection: Bromophenol blue migrates in a 1% agarose gel similar to a 300 bp DNA fragment. Bromophenol blue can therefore be detected at approximately the level of a 300 bp DNA fragment and Xylen cyanol FF at approximately the level of a 4 kb DNA fragment.
