FBS High Performance
FBS High Performance is a semi-synthetic fetal bovine serum (FBS) with a significantly reduced serum content. For our product, natural FBS was combined with identified growth factors in a synthetic, highly concentrated form. By adding specific growth factors, we were able to reduce the proportion of natural FBS without compromising performance. In addition, endotoxins (lipopolysaccharides) were removed by chromatography, making FBS High Performance a virtually defined FBS with minimized batch-to-batch variations. FBS High Performance is a more sustainable alternative to natural FBS and exhibits consistent or even improved cell culture properties. The reduced serum content also promotes animal welfare - for a sustainable cell culture.

To simulate in vivo conditions for in vitro cell culture, serum is usually added to the cell culture medium. Serum serves as a source of growth factors, lipids, hormones, and minerals for the cells. Fetal bovine serum is particularly rich in growth factors and contains few antibodies that could interfere with cell culture. Can I simply replace my FBS with FBS High Performance?
Yes. Add FBS High Performance to your cell culture medium at the same concentration as your standard FBS.
Can I heat-inactivate FBS High Performance?
Heat inactivation of the product is not necessary and is not recommended.
