BioColl® Separation Solutions

BioColl® separation solutions for density gradient centrifugation and cell separation

BioColl® separation solutions from Bio&SELL support cell separation via density gradient centrifugation - including for PBMC isolation from blood samples. The product line includes variants for human lymphocytes, monocytes, and granulocytes, as well as for murine lymphocytes. This allows you to select a BioColl® separation solution that suits your target cell population and experimental setup.

PBMC Isolation with BioColl®

PBMC isolation is a crucial step in numerous cell biology and molecular biology laboratory applications. In density gradient centrifugation, cells are separated in a density gradient based on their sedimentation properties. The appropriate BioColl® separation solution depends on the desired cell population and the required density. For human lymphocytes, Bio&SELL offers BioColl® with a density of 1.077 g/ml. The product line also includes a variant containing HEPES, as well as separation solutions for human monocytes, human granulocytes, and murine lymphocytes.

FAQs

What is BioColl®?

BioColl® is a separation solution for cell separation via density gradient centrifugation. Depending on the variant and density, it is designed for different cell populations.

Can BioColl® be used for PBMC isolation?

Bio&SELL offers BioColl® separation solutions for the separation of blood cells, including PBMCs, using density gradient centrifugation. The appropriate variant depends on the target cell population and the experimental protocol.

How does density gradient centrifugation with BioColl® work?

Blood cells (e.g., PBMCs) are isolated using a process known as density gradient centrifugation. This physical method is based on separating macromolecules according to their sedimentation properties (size, weight) in a density gradient. Our BioColl® separation solutions contain neutral, highly cross-linked polysucrose with an average molecular weight of 400,000 and specific gravities (up to approximately 1.2 g/mL) for the isolation of lymphocytes, monocytes, or granulocytes. The appropriate density of the BioColl® separation solution is selected based on the particle type.

Is BioColl® also available for murine lymphocytes?

Yes. A BioColl® separation solution with a density of 1.086 g/mL is available for murine lymphocytes.
